The beginning of December corresponds to arrival of
Christmas, and that means celebration, gifts, sweets, and season’s greetings.
Although the technological advancement, more precisely the advent of e-mails
and e-shopping have influenced almost all of it, it still feels adorable to
celebrate festivals their traditional way. Combining this thought with CAS we
along with our coordinator Mrs. Vijayalaxmi came up with the idea of undertaking
a task which Archies© Gallery™ has been doing for years – making
greeting cards!
So today we had the first meeting in which we discussed this
idea and our aim. We decided that we will make 10 cards each and over 100 cards
in total and then sell them to raise fund for the underprivileged. A couple of
months ago, when we sold candles we could raise as much as `3,000 approximately.
This time we indented to increase this amount even further. Since this activity
was service as well as creativity we reckoned it would consume 10 hours in
total; this would include 8 hours of card making and 2 hours of selling them.
The Christmas celebration was destined on 19th so indubitably 18th
was our deadline.
I thought very highly of this entire notion because by doing
this we weren’t just helping those who have their lives eclipsed by penury but
also enhancing the lives which are polluted by mundane work. Spreading joy and
love along with the season’s greetings is no less than serving humanity.
But the first thing we had to do now was to arrange the material
required for making cards and get started.
Good idea, this work will cover creativity and service both.
